About Us
In the spring of 2002
Christian Brothers Motocross, AKA CBMX began to take shape as an idea God had
put on our hearts and in our minds. It began with Troy Lea, Joe Patton, and
Scott Scribner. Scott introduced Troy and I to motocross and trail riding in
2001. In 2002 we began to race and wanted to serve the Lord while doing so.
We started out by just trying to be good witnesses to those we met at the track
in 2002. In the off season that followed we continued to pray about this with
our wives and discussed ways to reach more people for Jesus.
In the 2003 season we began to perform track side church services after riders
meetings at Planet-X-Treme, Mason, IL, with the permission of our good
friend J.R. Thompson, the track owner. We had CBMX pit shirts made up with the
cross encircled on them to make us easier to find in the pits and continued to
strive to be good witnesses for Christ.
The CBMX team grew in 2003 as God placed the pieces of the puzzle into place.
Nick Cavanaugh, Gary Brunner, Theron Harlin, and Billy Bowman joined forces
with the team to make it even more diverse. Each rider has God given talents
that make this team more complete. As the team grew the ministry became more
visible and we were able to reach out to more racers and their families. We
met some persons who were interested in supporting the team ministry along the
way by helping us with articles in magazines (James Pinckard) and matching gear
(Dirt Gear-Tom and Melissa Spiller) just to name two. As we did the Lord's work
He blessed us and better equipped us to grow.
In 2005 we grew further by adding
Todd Banning and Ed Culp.
The team continues to be
blessed and encouraged to continue to do our best to spread the gospel. CBMX
has received much support along the way to help us do the Lord's work. It is
our prayer that all persons who hear his word will come to Christ. It is our duty
as Christians, as outlined in God's word, Matthew 28:19-20, to tell all that we
can about Salvation through Jesus Christ.
